What We Collect

Calamari collects only what's needed to make the app work:

  • Account info — When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier and optional display name. We never see your email or Apple ID password.
  • Ratings you submit — Food type, restaurant name and address, your rating (1–10), photo, and optional notes. These are stored in Apple's CloudKit and visible to other Calamari users.
  • Anonymous usage analytics — We count how often features are used (e.g. tab switches, searches, wizard steps) to improve the app. These counts contain no personal information, are not linked to your identity, and cannot be used to identify you.

What We Don't Collect

  • We do not collect your email address, phone number, or contacts.
  • We do not track your precise location for analytics. Location is used only on-device to show nearby restaurants and sort results.
  • We do not sell, share, or rent any data to third parties.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

How Data Is Stored

All data is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Your ratings live in the CloudKit public database so other users can discover them. Analytics are stored as anonymous aggregate counts with no link to your account.

Your Choices

  • Don't sign in — You can browse ratings without an account. No data is stored until you sign in and submit a rating.
  • Sign out anytime — Tap Sign Out in your profile to disconnect your account.
  • Delete your data — Tap "Delete Account & Data" in your profile to permanently remove all your ratings, bookmarks, and reactions.

Children's Privacy

Calamari is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will appear here with a new date. Continued use of the app means you accept the changes.
